DAVE

Dave has been with us since 2014. Previously he has been a 6 Week challenge winner. He first jumped on board at Discovery because he was training in the gym but not pushing himself as hard as he knew he could. And therefore wasn’t making much progress. This round of before/after, Dave’s 3 training sessions a week have paid off and with only 1 week notice he decided to jump in front of the camera and get some shots. He is a credit to living lean and healthy year round. Even when he went overseas for his honey moon this year he was able to bound back with ease because of his consistency. Keep it up mate.

Where we’re you before you started Discovery?
Going from gym to gym just trying to find that right balance I was after with my routine.

What was your nutrition and training like?
Nutrition has always been healthy but I knew there were certain tweaks I could make that would produce better results.

What was life like?
Certain levels of anxiety relating to training as I knew I should be doing more for my wellbeing.

Where was your confidence levels before you started at Discovery?
Confidence was good but I knew it could be better as well as my results.

Before you started…What we’re your thoughts about getting results? Did you think it possible?
I always knew it was possible just needed the right structure and advice.

What was the turning point for you?
What made you snap out of it and make a change? Saw the opportunity come up to do the first 6 weeks to shredded and I remember thinking to myself right that’s something I’m going to commit to and if I’m going to do it I want to win it, and I did.

What results have you seen since starting the program?
Increased percentages of muscle mass all over and dropped a fair amount of fat also

How do you feel today? What’s your confidence, energy and happiness like?
It always nice to have that forum where you can go and let off some steam and rid yourself of the daily stresses and channel that energy and focus into a solid session. Happiness comes from educating yourself on better life choices and pushing yourself physically at the same time.

How has Discovery changed your life?
It’s a great way to look back on your progress and think how far you have come with your training. When you have your flat days you just think back to how you were when you started and think well imagine where I will be with things in one year’s time then you snap out of it and get on with life.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about getting started?
Get your shit together-take some personal responsibility for your current state and make that choice to do something about it and then stick at it until you get there as anything worth doing in life takes effort and this is no different.

What’s different about Discovery from other PTs and Gyms?
Small group training gives you that opportunity to connect with like-minded people who are all striving towards a unified goal so it keeps you motivated.

What makes you feel comfortable at Discovery?
The people!!

BEN

Ben has been a silent assassin, coming out of nowhere with one of the best transformations we have seen this year. Before he started he wasn’t really hitting much training at all and decided he wanted to seek out some help and shred up once and for all. He has been pushing hard and the results have paid off. Not bad for a surfer dude.

Where we’re you before you started Discovery?
I was on an unhealthy path, physically, mentally and diet.

What was your nutrition and training like?
I didn’t eat heaps of bad food but it wasn’t great either! Other than working a physical job, I didn’t train for any fitness.

What was life like?
My life was lethargic with little energy and not much drive. I wasn’t very happy.

Where was your confidence levels before you started at Discovery?
I wouldn’t say that I lacked confidence but I always felt I’d like to push it further than it was.

Before you started…What we’re your thoughts about getting results? Did you think it possible?
I had been to gyms before but never really made any progress. To be honest, I didn’t think this would be much different. It has been!

What was the turning point for you? What made you snap out of it and make a change?
I made a New Years resolution to actually commit to what I wanted, which was change from how I’d been living my life, in all aspects. I was tired of being tired.

What results have you seen since starting the program?
The results have been amazing. Instantly my energy levels changed. The nutrition blueprint played a big part I think. It feels like I’m getting stronger every day.

How do you feel today? What’s your confidence, energy and happiness like?
I think more clearly. I’m brighter, less tired and less stressed. Happy I made the change.

How has Discovery changed your life?
I think it’s given me the boost I needed and the confidence to know that I can make changes that will make a difference. I’m more determined.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about getting started?
Just give it a try before you dismiss it. Something Karim said at the beginning was ‘you don’t need energy to exercise, you get energy from the exercise. It’s stuck with me every day. Any time I think I can’t be bothered, I think of that saying!

What’s different about Discovery from other PTs and Gyms?
The difference is that you know, from training with the same people, that you are all on the same path. Taking positive steps towards a better life.

What makes you feel comfortable at Discovery?
The philosophy and sense of community. Surrounding yourself with positive people who are passionate about what they do and who care about helping you achieve your goals. I highly recommend it..!

MATTHEW W.

The English real estate agent we first met as a hard working guy who didn’t really look after himself. In real estate its work hard play hard with little regard for your health. And it was eating him up a bit inside. Coming out of nowhere with an incredible transformation of lean hard muscle as well as getting shredded. It’s safe to say he is living the best of both worlds now and has the “balance” most guys don’t.

Where we’re you before you started Discovery?
MSAC

What was your nutrition and training like?
All over the place. Not consistent, Pretty much when I could be bothered.

What was life like?
Was OK but not where I wanted to be.

Where was your confidence levels before you started at Discovery?
I still had fairly high confidence levels.

Before you started…What we’re your thoughts about getting results? Did you think it possible?
I thought I wouldn’t see the results I achieved. Didn’t think it was possible in such a quick time.

What was the turning point for you? What made you snap out of it and make a change?
I just wanted a better body and mindset.

What results have you seen since starting the program?
Higher energy, more confidence, big loss of body fat and a toned body.

How do you feel today? What’s your confidence, energy and happiness like?
Increased

How has Discovery changed your life?
It has helped me massively. It also has bought much better results at work – making more money 🙂

What advice would you give to someone thinking about getting started?
Do it. It’s hardwork but totally worth it.

What’s different about Discovery from other PTs and Gyms?
The atmosphere, it is a really good community and Karim is an excellent trainer.

What makes you feel comfortable at Discovery?
Everyone wants to be a peak performer and no matter your age, weight, goals there is always someone to sour you on.

VINCE

Vince, the smartest guy going around (dux at his Law school) but never initially one to get involved with much exercise. Starting slow with just lifting the bar and very light weights he has made dramatic improvements in lean muscle, strength and mental focus and energy. He has been crushing 3 sessions a week for about 4 months and looks fantastic. Not bad for a nerd! He has now moved into our PRO 7:15pm class.

Vince with logo

Where we’re you before you started Discovery?
Before Discovery, I had done no training whatsoever.

I was happy with who I was physically and mentally but I did feel that I could improve myself.

What was your nutrition and training like?
My nutrition was inconsistent. Sometimes decent; mostly poor.

I had done no physical training apart from the fitness you receive from taking on team sports.

What was life like?
Life was steady but I found that I was continuously stressed and exhausted.

My commitment to full-time law had taken its toll.

Where was your confidence levels before you started at Discovery?
My confidence was fair, but I always felt there was more I could do for myself… That I could feel a little more comfortable in my skin!

Before you started…What we’re your thoughts about getting results? Did you think it possible?
I didn’t think anything noticeable would be achievable – that it would always be out of reach.

My body type is skinny – I felt that I’d never be able to build any sort of muscle.

What was the turning point for you? What made you snap out of it and make a change?
I had seen Karim share information about his programs and I immediately felt as if a change could be achievable and really accessible. I spoke to Karim about getting into training and he made it very easy. I had always talked myself out of training but I felt that Karim had everything in place to help me make the transition and to stay motivated.

What results have you seen since starting the program?
Both physical and mental. I feel a lot stronger and I am really happy with how my body is beginning to take shape. I feel sharper and I also sleep a lot better.

How do you feel today? What’s your confidence, energy and happiness like?
I feel a lot better! I get less stressed than I used to about work/commitments and I’m never tired in the afternoon anymore. I feel happy more often than I used to as well. I’m definitely feeling more confident than I used to.

How has Discovery changed your life?
Discovery has helped me stay awake and focused throughout each day. I’m a better student because of it.

It has made me much happier and more confident than I used to be.

Overall, training at discovery has been an enriching experience!

What advice would you give to someone thinking about getting started?
Don’t listen to the 1 to 10 excuse(s) that you’re telling yourself right now.

They’ll go away soon after you’ve spoken to Karim about getting involved.

You’ll be happy you did.

What’s different about Discovery from other PTs and Gyms?
You’ve got a group of mates that you train with every time. You’ve got each other’s backs and no one is a stranger.

What makes you feel comfortable at Discovery?
As a skinny guy with no previous training experience, I was intimidated about training with people with varying experience. At Discovery (and true to their values), everyone leaves their ego at the door and you’ll fit right in.

BEAU

We first met Beau as a quiet, reserved kid with big hopes and dreams. His goal was to get a beach body and feel more confident. He was training in the gym but not getting the results he really deserved. So he stepped things up and dived head first into training. He has stacked on plenty of size and is looking super lean. He is now working hard to.

Beau with logo

Where we’re you before you started Discovery?
I was training at a local 24hr gym on most weeknights and some weekends. I had been training for 2 years but I couldn’t make any more changes to my body, I couldn’t get closer to my goals like I had hoped, I was stuck in the famous plateau.

What was your nutrition and training like?
My nutrition was generally good but I had no knowledge of what I was supposed to be eating in order to reach my goals.

What was life like?
Life was good, but I was always searching for more guidance and knowledge for the fitness field.

Where was your confidence levels before you started at Discovery?
My confidence levels were relatively the same prior to discovery training. I more so wanted to show others that result in shorter time frames were possible. I feel confident now in showing others how to live a balanced healthy lifestyle because I have evidence to back up what I saw.

Before you started…What we’re your thoughts about getting results? Did you think it possible?
I didn’t think it could be done in less than 6 months given by body type and size.

What was the turning point for you? What made you snap out of it and make a change?
When I began to learn now about the nutrition side of things I always knew there was more to training than just eat sleep and lift but I didn’t know the full part of it.

What results have you seen since starting the program?
Strength is a major factor as well as endurance. Muscle gain also in areas I didn’t normally plan to build up.

How do you feel today? What’s your confidence, energy and happiness like?
I feel all out healthy and energetic I will now tackle my studies and jobs harder just like my training.

How has Discovery changed your life?
Discovery has made me feel more knowledgeable about myself, I now know more about my body how it reacts to different types of training. How to properly gain and loose fat when I feel necessary. Nutrition knowledge as a whole is massive gain for me, as now I know more about what foods are good for what throughout different stages of my training.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about getting started?
If your thinking your not getting the full potential your body can unleash then your not, you really need to talk to a expert in the field. Karim as well as his trainers know a hell of a lot more than the internet will tell you and the best way to kick-start your goals is to see him in his studio. I personally have never used such useful weights like the ones in his gym. You’ll find everything much easier to grasp and you’ll be ultimately excelling your goals just by making the most of his set up and space.

What’s different about Discovery from other PTs and Gyms?
Discovery makes the whole fitness experience more fun its definably more team based work rather than a solo approach; you’re not just training your living along side the coaches. They’re with you every step of the way and they want to help you. You can get any guidance whenever you want and you feel like your listening to the right people. You only need to see the photos of people loosing weight and getting cut to believe its possible for any body type. You also get hands on help during the training and the best part is the workouts are organised for you, you just have to rock on up.

What makes you feel comfortable at Discovery?
Knowing that others around me had the same kinds of values and goals towards there training, seeing progress in others that I referred as well people I meet through discovery only made the experience even better.

HOLLIE

We met Hollie as a unfocussed choco-holic, at the time, easily polishing off a block of chocolate a day (on a good day even more). She quickly took a huge liking to lifting weights and seeing the changes in her body so quickly which also translated over to her confidence and expressing herself even more! You are killing it Hollie keep up the great work.

Hollie with logo

Where we’re you before you started Discovery?
I was a member of GESAC and of Pole Princess Cheltenham.

What was your nutrition and training like?
My nutrition was quite good for main meals but I had so many sugary snacks throughout the day. I would easily eat up to 3 blocks of Cadbury chocolate a week to satisfy my cravings. My training was okay when at GESAC. I would go to three classes of yoga/Pilates a week but I would never go into the weights room. I always found it easier to work out with a friend therefore I opted for group fitness classes. When at Pole Princess I was motivated and went to classes 3-5times a week. These were a mix of stretch, skill and strength classes.

What was life like?
I was pretty happy. Pole Princess was the start of my love for fitness. I did have quite low energy levels but blamed it on my coursework and just life in general.

Where was your confidence levels before you started at Discovery?
Before Pole Princess they were probably a 5/10. Afterwards a 7/10 as it is a very accepting environment for girls of all shapes and sizes.

Before you started…What we’re your thoughts about getting results? Did you think it possible?
I used to think I would always be quite slim but without definition. The results I would see at Pole Princess were ability, strength and flexibility based, so if I could complete a new trick I was getting results that way.

What was the turning point for you? What made you snap out of it and make a change?
I initially saw stronger girls at Pole that made me want to build my strength. I also wanted to have more defined abdominal muscles and arms.

What results have you seen since starting the program?
I started from body weight and I have now seen results by being able to lift up to 50kg on squats and deadlifts for example. I have noticed a big change in the definition of my thighs, butt, and arms, as well as my back and stomach.

How do you feel today? What’s your confidence, energy and happiness like?
I have had a large boost in energy levels and confidence in my ability in the gym as well as other areas of my life. I am happy because I feel strong and independent in the gym environment. I have also made a lot of friends at Discovery that support me to reach my goals and always push me further.

How has Discovery changed your life?
I feel strong, confident, energised and excited to accomplish new things in my life. The people there have made me reach my full potential and I feel that I can maintain this lifestyle when I leave the program.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about getting started?
It’s a great environment full of supportive, friendly people with similar goals. You will get addicted to weight training so invest in some gloves! Discovery is a great place to start no matter your ability so join up!

What’s different about Discovery from other PTs and Gyms?
The community. I enjoy the regular social events and the constant support I receive at Discovery.

What makes you feel comfortable at Discovery?
The fact that everyone is so welcoming. The members are very supportive and energetic which just makes Discovery a fun place to be. When I am there I feel like I’m part of something and that we are all working towards our goals together.

KYLIE

Kyle has been killing it. Consistently getting stronger, leaner and more toned. Being a mum, sometimes it can be tough to make time for yourself. But Kylie has been able to create a good balance, training 3 x 45 minute sessions per week, finally taking some time for herself and best of all being the best mum she can be.

Where were you before you started Discovery?
Training with a PT at a local gym

What was your nutrition and training like?
I was training 1 – 2 times a week with a PT & occasionally getting a training in at home. I always put in the effort when training, particularly when I had someone pushing me to do so.

I could be good nutrition wise for a bit and then fall off the wagon and struggle to get back on track. The bad food choices would last for weeks & would include breads, chocolate, ice cream you name it!

What was life like?
Stuck in a rut, doing the same thing and expecting a different result  I wasn’t putting my health first and I would take the easy option with my food choices

Where was your confidence levels before you started at Discovery?
My confidence was really low. I had gone from feeling great and being at my lightest weight to putting a huge chunk of the weight back on and feeling like a failure that I couldn’t stick to it and keep the weight off.

Before you started…What we’re your thoughts about getting results? Did you think it possible?
I honestly didn’t think I could do it. I had been overweight my entire life from an early teen and thought I could never truly be able to look and feel great about myself.

What was the turning point for you? What made you snap out of it and make a change?
I saw the Bikini Transformation ad pop up a few times on my facebook feed and after about 6 months of procrastination I decided to check out the Discovery website. The results of the girls inspired me to make the initial enquiry.

What results have you seen since starting the program?
When I fall off the nutrition program (and it has happened a number of times), I can turn it around a lot quicker. I used to let it go for weeks, and now it’s only a day or so at the most.  I am able to push myself without having to be told to do so  Stronger, fitter & more toned

How do you feel today? What’s your confidence, energy and happiness like?
Life is still busy and exhausting, but I have more energy to get up in the morning and come to training. I’m definitely more confident when I’m sticking to my nutrition as it makes me feel accomplished knowing I can do it.

How has Discovery changed your life?
I’m more accountable to myself. I could always train hard, but when it came to keeping myself on track with food I would binge eat and feel guilty about it. Now if I binge eat, I try not to feel bad & get back on track.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about getting started?
If you are hesitant and finding it daunting, just go for it. I felt so out of place to begin with but as soon as the first session was over I started enjoying myself and enjoying feeling the results from the effort put in.

What’s different about Discovery from other PTs and Gyms?
Being held accountable nutrition wise but at the same time we are not being told we are doing the wrong thing, but being asked how we can better ourselves and what other options we could be trying.

Positive energy at every session. When I turn up and really don’t feel like training, it certainly helps to turn that feeling around and just getting the session done.

Community and friendship

What makes you feel comfortable at Discovery?
We are all on the same journey, although at different stages, and there is no judgement from anyone, just positive encouragement.

WILDA

Wilda puts in a huge effort in training and is as on point as they come in regards to nutrition. She is on a mission to look incredible on her wedding day in Jan 2016 and we think she is already there. Keep up the great work. Wilda loves the Discovery community so much she left her job at an accounting firm and now works full time as client services at Discovery.

Wilda with logo

Where we’re you before you started Discovery?
I was training almost every day but never got the results I was trying so hard for. I was constantly feeling disappointed with myself and my efforts since I never saw any results from my training and diet.

What was your nutrition and training like?
Very irregular, some days I would eat 4 times, some days (most days) 1 or 2 meals. I would cut out carbs completely in belief of that it would help me lose weight which I know now is so silly!
My training was compulsory, forced and boring. I would spend countless hours a week doing only cardio and from time to time use the machines at the gym.

What was life like?
Life was just life, you know, every day the same thing and I did not really have anything to look forward to Monday – Friday after work and I had a pretty bad relationship with food, when I thought the less the better.

Where was your confidence levels before you started at Discovery?
My confidence was poor.

Before you started…What we’re your thoughts about getting results? Did you think it possible?
I knew I could get to where I want, but that it would take a lot of hard work and being open to change. I didn’t know exactly how much I had to change or exactly what to do to get to a healthy body and mind, but I was determined so I knew I would make it somehow.

What was the turning point for you? What made you snap out of it and make a change?
I saw an ad on Facebook for a 6 week challenge at Discovery PT and I registered, and shortly after I got a phone call from Karim which resulted in me coming past the gym for a consult. I immediately felt confident in that he would be able to help me achieve my results and I signed up on the spot.

What results have you seen since starting the program?
I feel stronger, I’m more toned and I have definitely improved my lifting/training techniques. I haven’t lost many kilos, which really proves to me that scales are not where you should turn to if you want to get strong, toned and have a healthy body! Muscle weigh more than fat and I would rather weigh 65 kilos and be super fit than untrained, tired, weak and 10 kilos lighter.

How do you feel today? What’s your confidence, energy and happiness like?
I feel happier and more confident. To get the “dream results” takes a looooot of hard work, time, eating right and being consistent and it’s so rewarding when you see a change and you know that you are doing it all right. That feeling when you get home after an epic session at Discovery is the best!

How has Discovery changed your life?
It has change my life in so many ways! I never thought that my life would take as many good turns as it has since I came here. In Discovery I have found not only happiness through learning how to eat and live healthy, attend awesome training sessions or get support from experienced personal trainers; I have also found a community of likeminded people

We are all here for the same reason; we want to be healthy, happy and strong both physically and mentally. And when you surround yourself with people that all strive for the same thing, you will push each other and support each other more than anyone else you know.

You can come to Discovery and whatever else is going on in your private life doesn’t matter, because you are here for you and with all the other members and you know you will smash out a good session and have fun with a group of great people.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about getting started?
Do it. There cannot possibly be a single legitimate reason for you to not get fit, healthy and happy? Just try it out; have a consultation, meet the great people here, get your nutrition sorted and you will never want to turn back to the life you were living!

There is a reason you are reading this right now, and it’s because you want a change, so just take the step and you will thank yourself for ever!

What’s different about Discovery from other PTs and Gyms?
You have a community, a group of mates that meets up and you will have a training session as good as a 1 on 1 with a PT but you are doing it together which encourages you to step it up and work that little bit extra hard and makes it that little bit extra fun.

What makes you feel comfortable at Discovery?
The support and encouragement from the other members and the support from the trainer(s). You know there is always someone there who can listen if you are struggling, or can answer any questions you might have. You never feel intimidated or like you are in the way of anyone that you might not be as fit as, everyone is so helpful and nice that you improve and learn so much quicker than if you would be anywhere else.
